Karriem ABdAllah says NEWARK is the MECCA of Mixed Martial Arts

Karriem ABdAllah (Al-Mu'assis)

Being fond of saying “America is the Land of Dreams”, whatever Karriem ABdAllah says about himself is an understatement. Listen to him talk about his accomplishments and those close to him will tell you he neglected to mention his most impressive credentials and triumphs. If you know Karriem ABdAllah only as a promoter, you won’t know why his events have been the hottest tickets in town for four decades.

 

 

Aside from his being most deserving of the Arabic term “Al-Mu’assis” signifying him as the founder of the K.A. System of Karate , he earned a reputation for being one of the fiercest fighters on the east coast before the advent of protective gear. After retiring from the tournament scene, Mr. ABdAllah went on to teach and develop a core of world renowned fighters in every division and weight class. Still having the fire to compete, Mr. ABdAllah promoted set bouts pitting himself against many of New York and New Jersey’s top Karate Instructors and found time in between to compete in the worlds first closed circuit Karate Full Contact World Championship.

 

One could say that Karriem ABdAllah was born to promote because for as long as anyone can remember he has been promoting his renowned fighting system, his many students, professional boxing matches and kick-boxing matches. Even his belt promotions draw standing room only audiences. Like many other well earned titles he will not generally acknowledge, Mr. ABdAllah was once labeled the ‘Muhammad Ali’ of the Martial Arts.

 

 

Those fortunate enough to attend one of his events will leave knowing why he is The Renaissance Man of the Renaissance City, Newark, New Jersey. The Mecca of MMA.
